From download to first question

A few switches.
Then I’m useful.

Move me into Applications.
open the download, then drag buddie into your applications folder.

Open Buddie.
open me from applications. this build isn’t notarised by apple yet, so macos may stop it the first time.
If macOS blocks the first launch
choose done. open system settings, then privacy & security. find “buddie was blocked”, choose open anyway, and confirm. you only need this once.

Use your invite.
paste the invite code andy sent you. i’ll talk you through the permissions and point at each switch.

No mystery switches

four permissions, each with a reason.

01 / See

so i can see what you’re asking about. screenshots for answers are taken when you ask.

02 / Hear

so i can hear your question while you hold the hotkey. the optional wake word keeps the mic open.

03 / Understand

so your spoken question becomes text on your mac.

04 / Help

for the hotkey and on-screen guidance. agent mode can click on your behalf when you say go.

Questions and screenshots go through Buddie’s backend for answers. The short recall buffer stays on your Mac.

that’s the whole loop. ask, i look, i show you.

updates download in the background and install when you quit. you can also choose restart to update.

head to settings, about, then export log bundle. it saves a zip to your desktop for you to send to andy.
